Oscar de la Renta’s legacy will live on, in more ways than one. The late designer’s new fragrance, Extraordinary, is set to launch in April – the first since his death. The new fragrance will also be the first to launch under de la Renta’s one-year-old licensing deal with Inter Parfums.

De la Renta was very much involved in designing the bottle, according to Inter Parfums. The unusual shape bottle has thick walls, and many curves. It’s made from heavyweight, sculpted glass. It was inspired by the bottle created for Nina Ricci’s first fragrance. WWD reported that the fragrance’s name comes from de la Renta himself, as it was his favorite descriptive word.

There is also a major exhibit planned to open in 2016, featuring Oscar de la Renta’s work over five decades. It is curated by former Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley. It will be open February 27th through May 30th, 2016 at the De Young Museum in San Francisco.

“I am honored and excited to be the curator of the definitive Oscar de la Renta retrospective at exhibition at the de Young Museum,” Talley said in a press release. “My goal is to highlight the extraordinary depth of Oscar’s creative aesthetic from his earliest designs for Jane Derby throughout the five decades of his remarkable career.”

Oscar de la Renta CEO Alex Bolen added, “Both our company and our family are proud that the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are organizing the first full-scale retrospective of Oscar’s work.”
